Subscriptions Marketing Manager/Snr Exec

The opportunity
We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to join the marketing team heading up both acquisition of paid circulation and maximising subscription retention along with managing and building a controlled circulation for M&M Global. You will be responsible for the quarterly distribution process of one magazine brand, an online monthly eZine and weekly newsletter.
Key responsibilities
Retention of paid subscriptions
- Developing and maintaining solutions to control and automate effective communication with customers.
- Assist in managing the fulfilment bureau and other external suppliers and resources in order to improve effectiveness of the renewal process.
- Plan, implement and maintain subscription renewal activity.
- Monitor and analyse renewal response to identify potential problems or opportunities and present information to the Senior Management Team.
- Working closely with our fulfilment bureau to ensure subscribers receive excellent customer service.
- Acquisition of paid subscriptions.
- Planning campaigns to achieve volume and revenue targets and manage the agreed audience development strategy.
- Producing quality marketing material including email shots, web buttons/banners, direct mail packs, loose inserts and page advertisements liaising with our internal design team.
- Analysis and reporting on results of audience acquisition activity.
- Manage telemarketing campaigns and report on effectiveness.
Controlled circulation management and marketing
- Maintain and manage the existing controlled circulation along with researching and selecting new audiences to build the definitive core circulation through list building, list purchasing and trade partnerships.
- Help develop the brand portfolio through innovative routes to market.
- Manage the circulation and distribution output process for the publication through data selection and working with the fulfilment bureau, mailing house and internal online team.
- Monitor, review and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information to enable strategic decision making.
- Facilitate and participate in client and internal meetings supporting trade partnerships. Taking ownership of media sponsorship, you will negotiate contra agreements with event organisers and attend the relevant conferences and events.
- Data management – Action adhoc information requests from clients and internal selections along with internal data process management.
- Manage all partnerships with key associations to promote the magazine globally.
- Work closely with the commercial and editorial team on new initiatives with potential partners.
The candidate
You will have solid database experience within a marketing, circulations or subscriptions role, with a results-focused approach and excellent team-working skills. The role will suit a candidate with strong attention to detail, and who is comfortable with numbers in order to be able to work with reader mailing lists and the analytics surrounding marketing campaigns. You will be responsible for leading projects from inception to delivery, so excellent planning and organisation skills are a must. Experience of the b2b publishing sector would be an advantage.
You’ll need:
- 3+ years in a direct response marketing background and MUST have some previous experience of direct marketing (preferably in subscriptions marketing).
- Experience of managing off and online end to end campaigns.
- A background in publishing, ideally in a membership or subscriptions environment.
- Great analytical skills and a sharp eye for detail.
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to work on your own initiative – a real self-starter and a natural forward planner.
Salary
£26,000-28,000 plus bonus.
This full time position, but would be considered as 4 days per week for the right candidate.
It is based at 115Southwark Bridge Road, SE1, London.
