Brazil, Mexico & Colombia top Festival of Media LatAm 2013 Awards Shortlist

The Festival of Media LatAm organiser C Squared has announced the shortlist for the event’s 2013 Awards, revealing 25 entries from Brazil, 21 from Mexico, and 19 from Colombia. Other high performing countries include Argentina on 13 shortlisted entries and Puerto Rico coming in with 10.

There are 92 shortlisted entries across 13 countries. A total of 14 brand representatives feature on both the final and judging panel, including names such as Unilever, Christian Dior Parfums, Nokia, Fiat, Volkswagen, Visa, Grupo Bimbo and many more.

Impactful campaigns that feature heavily are ‘Dove – Real Beauty Sketches’ and ‘Follow2Unfollow’.

‘Dove – Real Beauty Sketches’ is shortlisted 8 times, across markets such as Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. It is shortlisted in two of this year’s new categories – Best Original Content and The Pan-Latin America Award. The campaign saw an artist sketch two portraits of a range of women – the first based on their description of themselves and the second according to others’ descriptions of them, to show that women are more beautiful than they think they are.

‘Follow2Unfollow’ appears in the shortlist 8 times. This campaign has been renowned for its work with the Puerto Rican government, which had real prison inmates communicating on Twitter to discourage criminal behaviour amongst the country’s youth.

Other  notable market-specific campaigns are ‘El Cartel de Los Sapos’ in Colombia, nominated for The Effectiveness Award and Best Event/Experiential Campaign; ‘Fruity People Movement’ by Fruttare in Ecuador for Best Engagement Strategy; and ‘Mizuno Challenge’ in Brazil for Best Event/Experiential.

The results are now subject to final judging, which will take place during The Festival of Media LatAm 2013 under the leadership of head of the jury, Luis Di Como, who is Unilever’s senior
