Charlie Crowe, Chief Executive

Once voted an “international pioneer” by the readers of Campaign magazine, Charlie is the founder of C Squared – growing the company from a sole enterprise to a business of 25 employees in just 3 years. During this time Charlie successfully completed two separate rounds of VC funding, instituted a Board of Directors and senior management team and led the acquisition of M&M from Emap/Apax.

Simon Marquis, Chairman

Chairman of C Squared since January 2007, Simon is a respected figure within the British advertising industry. As well as his responsibilities at C Squared, Simon also chairs the UK’s National Readership Survey (NRS) and Evolutions TV, one of the largest independent television post-production facilities in the UK, whose credits include The Apprentice and Top Gear. Simon also sits on the  boards of St. Ives PLC, one of  Britain’s largest printers and Packet Vision Ltd, a pioneer in the IPTV marketplace.

Mike Bayer, Non-Executive Director

Michael has ten years' experience of the venture capital industry (3i plc and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein), backing and nurturing high growth companies. He has focused on the consumer and retail sectors, including investing in companies such as low cost airline Go and high street retailers Goldsmiths and Early Learning Centre.  He is a Chartered Accountant (Ernst & Young) and has a business degree from Warwick University.

Katharina Pesch, Chief Operating Officer

Katharina is Chief Operating Officer of C Squared, a position she took up in January 2009. She has been with the company for over 3 years, helping to build the brands and consolidate all the systems and management processes. This includes overseeing marketing for all C Squared’s products and all delegate sales and booking systems.

Richard Reeves, Chief Commercial Officer

Richard became Chief Commercial Officer in January 2009. He began working at C Squared at the beginning of 2007 as Business Development Director, responsible for client service and new business as well as sales on The Festival of Media.

Greg Brooks, Content Strategy Director

Greg is Content Strategy Director at C Squared and was responsible for putting together the 2009 Festival of Media agenda.

He has been a journalist and digital media consultant for over ten years, writing for titles including The Guardian, Marketing, Channel 4 and M&M and consulting for companies including BSkyB and Ofcom (UK communications regulator) advising on the future strategic use of digital media.

Pip Brooking, Editor, M&M

Pip joined M&M (then M&M Europe) in September 2005 as reporter, and she was promoted to deputy editor of the magazine in December 2006, and, a year later, after overseeing the relaunch of the title to reflect the increasing globalisation of the advertising and media industry, she became editor.

Olivia Solon, Editor, Cream

Olivia has been writing for M&M magazine and CMDglobal.com since she joined parent company C Squared in May 2007. In March 2009 she was appointed to the role of editor of Cream and has been responsible for developing the editorial positioning and strategy for the site, drawing upon a network of experts from around the world.

Martina Lacey, Reporter, M&M

Martina joined C Squared in May 2008 as an editorial assistant on M&M.  As a reporter her responsibilities include updating the M&M website daily with news, creating and distributing the M&M weekly news digest newsletter and writing features for the monthly print publication.

Paddy Brownlow, Director, Publishing Operations & Sales

Prior to joining C Squared, Paddy spent eight years at TIME Magazine, of which the last 3 ½ were in Asia where he was responsible for growing revenues in the Singapore market and managed the India, Pakistan and Philippine markets.

Caroline Holmes, Director, Client Services & Sales

Caroline recently joined C Squared as Director of Client Services and Sales, her main task is to develop and drive forward client partnerships across C Squared’s portfolio of brands. Caroline brings with her 9 years of industry experience, with an excellent track record working in both fields of strategic media planning and media sales.

Clare Dewhirst, Event Director

Clare has worked with C Squared for five years working on the IAA portfolio, Masterclasses and contract events for major media brands including MTV. She is now the Director of the Festival of Media, responsible for production, logistics and delivery and managing external suppliers and a growing team of Festival support admin staff.

Yuliya Petryk, Associate Publisher, Cream

Yuliya joined C Squared in 2004, helping to launch Cream magazine. She subsequently developed Cream’s presence online, building it into a unique business intelligence tool, and was responsible for the strategic development and implementation of all of C Squared's products in the online space. She is now wholly responsible for Cream in the role of an Associate Publisher.

Gee Ibrahim, Head of Design & Production

Gee has worked with C Squared for many years and was the freelance designer working until the early hours of the morning with Charlie Crowe on the launch of Cream magazine. She became a permanent member of the team at the beginning of 2007 in order to bring her powers of scrutiny, organisation and design flair to bear across C Squared's portfolio of events, publications and websites.

Emily Hanson, Event Operations Manager

Emily joined C Squared in 2007 and was responsible for assisting with preparations for the Festival of Media in Venice. Since then she has been involved with the Festival move to Valencia in 2009 and has worked on numerous events in the Special Projects division, including online marketing, delegate sales and booking systems.

Anis Rahaman, Technical Manager

Anis Rahaman joined C Squared as Technical Manager in September 2008. Anis is professional member of the British Computer Society and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.  He is a winner of a UK-wide competition for innovative solutions, winner of the Respect photo competition in 2004 and awarded best graduating student on the MSc advanced IT by London South Bank University.

FINANCE

Paul Cook, Finance Director

Paul is a Finance Director with experience across several sectors – notably the media, telecoms and hospitality industries. He has successfully raised finance for three companies in the last four years – venture Capital funding, bank and regional funding and has a detailed knowledge and experience in valuation, due diligence, forecasting, business plan preparation and presentation. Paul most recently assisted C Squared in the acquisition of M&M magazine and was also influential in raising second round VC finance.

James Wright, Financial Controller

James recently joined C Squared as Financial Controller and looks after the day to day running of the company finances. He is very excited about joining C Squared at such a pivotal time and is looking forward to the challenges ahead. James began his career as a junior accountant at LWT before moving internally within Granada to the International Media team.

Ray Snoddy

Ray is a freelance journalist who writes regularly for The Independent newspaper in the UK after being Media Editor of The Times for seven years. Before moving to The Times he was a reporter on the Financial Times for 19 years, writing mainly about media and communication issues.
